Last Monday evening Kurt, the kids and I got to experience the ultrasound of the baby bean growing inside of me. It was fun and the baby of course was precious. I'm glad to were able to experience it, but still not sure what all the hype is about for having an ultrasound to tell you the honest truth. I know my baby is there - I'm getting bigger and bigger and I feel the little thing moving around jabbing me constantly. Don't get me wrong, I will be cherishing those little photo's and I loved seeing the babies face, hands and little heart beating rapidly - but I'm not sure if this is something that we will be regularly doing in the future.
To answer some questions I got; we went to a pregnancy clinic about 40 minutes from us. They do ultrasounds to help prevent mothers from having abortions. In order for the nurses to keep up their credentials they have to do so many ultrasounds a week/month (something) so they offer them free of charge and encourage you to visit. The woman are extremely nice and I loved the fact that even though we were getting to see our baby, we were helping out a good cause at the same time.
Another thing - we did not get to find out the gender of the baby. I thought I didn't care, but when I was laying there part of me wanted to know so badly. Kurt on the other hand didn't want too - so I suppose it was a good thing they don't tell you (as they aren't trained too and don't want to get your hopes up if it did make a difference.) So surprise, surprise come August!!!
I also know that some of you do not know that we will be having our baby at home, just like the previous births. I'm still planning on a waterbirth and my mom and another midwife will be there with us. It's a beautiful experience and I really cannot imagine doing it any other way. I hope to write another post about it all soon - I just haven't gotten around to it, and I've had several people ask - so there you have it! Homebirth, Waterbirth, Gentle Natural birth and a surprise when the baby is born.
As for names - the girls name is for sure (except for the middle name which is up in the air). As for a boy, we thought we had one but I'm having doubts. We really haven't picked up a baby name book yet - we have time. We do not share our names though, so that'll be another surprise. We aren't any fun are we?
So there you have it, a few questions about baby bean due in August. I'm happy to answer any others.

oh I LOVED my ultrasounds!!! You'll have to bring your pics next time we see you I love u/s pics!!
We are the same way with names we don't share them until we are 100% decided. I think that's the best way to go if you want to avoid unasked for opinions hehe
How exciting!
I totally didn't get the hype about ultrasounds with either of my kids, but it still is nice to see that tiny person :)
I can't wait to find out the gender of your baby and the beautiful name come August! Both of your kids have such great names, I'm excited to hear what else you come up with :)
I think u/s are amazing because even though you KNOW a baby is in there, you don't get to see him/her, and for me, it just helps me internalize it all.
I love the chance to see the baby via u/s! I am too impatient to wait until the birth. I like to plan. :)
Thanks for sharing. How exciting!
How exciting :0)
I'm finding that it's so funny to see what really is optional vs. a MUST with using a midwife. The US is optional, she likes to know where the Placenta is laying though she she is prepared - and I'm so super paranoid about that since the bleeding after Kara.
Sometimes I really wonder what the heck I'm getting myself into, even though this is what I want. But most importantly what God is asking of me.
I can't believe you are already half way done! Exciting!!!
What a great program for the ultrasounds.
