I was off the couch
I managed to spend a little bit of time over here today. There are some really cute things to enter if you have a girl. Like a tutu tank from Peekaboo. =) There are things for boys too... hee hee! I'm off to cuddle my babes.

Some Facts On Birth Control
I've been looking for information on birth control - pretty much like this - with the real facts for some time. Hard to come by, let me tell you!
Kate had this posted on her blog, and with her approval I was able to post the information from the pamphlet. She has a great post about this entire issue if anyone is interested in reading - I recommend it. However, read the below and know some of the facts about birth control. I may get screamed at about this, but how many people have little angel's in heaven because of the pill, or other abortifciants? Sad!
A distinction exists between contraceptive birth control and abortificiant. Contraceptives are "barrier" methods. Abortificiants cause abortions to put it in blunt form. Abortificiants cause abortions. Many Christians, regardless of religion, believe all of this to be a personal choice between Husband, Wife and God. What many Christians do not take in to fact is the Sons and Daughters that are dying.
Contraceptives, there are only a few contraceptions that truly are contraceptives. The condom, the diaphragm, the cervical cap and the anti sperm agents. These methods may not cause abortion but the Christian couple should prayerfully weigh the facts and consider scripture (Many beyond Psalm 127:3-5)(Why do we deny ourselves blessings from God, can we really plan our family better then God can?) before deciding to use one of them.
Abortifcients are considered as followed:
The pill which is a group of more then 50 similar types of abortifacients. Obviously we all know how they work, no? You pop them in your mouth and it suppresses part of the brain that gives the sign to ovulate and then changes the lining on the cervix to make it difficult for sperm to pass though and can then prevent implantation of human life on the lining of the womb.
Side effects: Infertility, cervical cancer, tubal pregnancy,pelvic inflammation disease, increased chance of contracting STD, breast cancer, gall bladder disease, blindness, strokes, blood clots, even death.
Norplant:A series of capsules implanted under the skin. Studies show that this can cause abortions 50-65% of the time. Growing numbers of lawsuits are being filed against the makers of Norplant.
Side effects: Weight gain,nausea,yeast infections, acne, heart attack, stroke and nerve damage.
Depo-provera:Is an injection received every 3 months. It's a contraceptive and a abortifacient. It may cause abortions 46% of the time.
Side effects include increased risk of breast cancer, mood swings and breast cancer.
The IUD:This device is insert into the womb. It inflames the wombs lining and stops any implantation of a developing child. IUD's do nothing to prevent contraception. Their only function is to cause early abortions.
Side effects include: perforation of the uterus temporary or permanent sterility, tubal pregnancies,future miscarriages,pelvic inflammatory disease and even death.
The Calculated annual infant homicides of unborn babies in the USA are as follows:

No Fun
Landen has been sick since last night. I'm really hoping it's just those last two molars coming in because he's got the real high temperature, snotty nose and all that. On top of it though he has a tummy ache and feels like he wants to throw up. He had the dry heaves all night. We've never had the stomach flu since we had the kids so it's a new experience (if that is what this is). I'm really hoping it's the teeth because I really don't want Amelia catching it. I hope it passes quickly.. whatever it is.. because I feel so bad for him just laying in there so sick. Any prayers would be appreciated.
Social Butterfly
No, I wouldn't consider myself a social butterfly, I'll leave that up to Landen - who has been called that several times lately.
We did however go out to dinner and have friends over last Friday. I can't even tell you the last time that happened.. with someone other than family. It was a great time and I realize now that it is possible with now having children (a toddler)... it's just easier when you find friends that have children as well. They understand when you have to nurse, change pee clothes, and the game lasts a couple hours instead of a half hour because of all the interruptions. I think I can now break out of my shell of protection and have friends over more often (not just play dates) - if those people are able to deal with my children come first and still have a good time. =)

Another Blog To Read
The other day I was checking out some different blogs from my Catholic Mothers Online Blog roll and came across Kate Wicker's blog. I was very pleasantly surprised to find another SAHM that has similar interests as myself. (uh oh.. not another Andrea.. ha ha!) Her blog is great - not to mention she's a very good writer.
She has a great post - Will Work For Children, that you have to read. Too many times have I met people that didn't think a SAHM was all that great. We have a boring life, why give up that college education, like I was some sort of idiot because I stay home, I'm sure a lot of you have heard it all. It makes me feel bad sometimes, and I never know what to say in reply. I love my life, my vocation and that I stay home with my children. I would never trade it for anything. Check out her post on her thoughts about staying at home. It's worth it!

Bathtime Is Over
Bathtime is almost always fun here. Landen is like some human fish and requires pulling the shower curtain or we're most guaranteed to have a flood.Amelia is following along in his path - splashing, screaming, and playing with her toys. Well she's not a fan of getting out of the tub - usually there is a panic cry once she's lifted out and wrapped in her towel.
The other day I was getting some serious attitude from her. I had to post these pictures because she's learning some good facial expressions.. oh and you can see her little teeth. I love little teeth.. except when they bite you and leave bruises on your chin. Maybe that's my fault for letting her bite on my chin. =)
Uh oh... I just felt a powerful explosion in Amelia's diaper... uh oh ... more! Must tend to diaper duty. Not that any of you wanted to read that. *click photo's for larger views - to see the teeth!*

I Think God Is Calling...
I've decided I'm going to be spending less time on the computer.
I think in someway God is telling me I need to step back and not be spending as much time on here as I have been. I have a lot of books I've been wanting to read, magazines, my FAMILIA home work is suffering and I really enjoy that (when I take the time to absorb it.) Sometimes I feel myself feeling a bit guilty for being on here so much at the end of the day.
I'm not sure what spending less time will mean - maybe not as many checks to the e-mail during the day... not so much blog reading everyday. They're not going anywhere - why such the rush to get to them? I'm not sure, but I've been thinking about this for sometime though and just now putting it into effect.
I think too that winters are really hard for me. I hate them, I hate being stuck in the house, nothing to do. Some days not even being able to get out of here if I dare because of how cold and snowy it is. I get overwhelmed and depressed... I can only play so much. Once summers is here it will be better.. we always find fun things to do in the summer. Now that Amelia is past the sleeping all the time age, she's ready to be on the go as well. =)
So, I think it's time to change things up a bit. I hate to set things in stone - like only this many minutes, one e-mail check a day, because certain days are different, but I'm definitely going to be more aware.

Contest Review Page
As many of you know who read my blog I like to read about reviews other mom's have done and enter into some pretty awesome giveaways. Well since it seems to be taking up a lot of space on my blog here - I decided to make a sister site . I don't now enough about html to add it to this same site, so I had to make an entire separate page. This sister site is just about reviews and contests to enter. It's nothing special really. Showin' Off His New Shirt
I got the shirt we won from Polly Tod clothing today in the mail. I was a tad bit disappointed in the quality and look of the particular shirt we got. It's just a regular Hanes shirt that looks like I put an iron on logo on the front. It's cute, but not what I expected from their line of clothing. I still like some of there shirts like - It's on like Donkey Kong. You can see that print from my original post about Polly Tod. Oh and the Big Sister and Big Brother shirts are fun.
He's such a handsome little guy! =) My Punky Munky.
My Duh Moment Of The Day
I decided to wash the rugs around the house.. a chore that needs to be done every so often, and yes I do it quite often. Well I tossed them all together in the washing machine... and the dark reddish one bled on all the others, except one. I am now left with red rugs. Ahhh! I guess it's time to go rug shopping - we have had these a long time. 
The towel is supposed to be white, with blue strips, the middle rug is a light gray and the top rug is a combination of blue colors. I like pink but not this much. =)

What's New...
.... A whole lot of nothing. We're doing laundry, and playing today while the wind is about to blow our house down. Brrr!
Saturday we went to my parents house to see my sister Sara (who was home from school) and Jake (Sara's boyfriend and Amelia's Godfather), and the rest of the family. Adam was around and getting ready to leave for a few days for a job training in another state. We played some interesting games and overall had a good time.
We went to Church while we were down. It was so nice. I have been feeling really ... I don't know what the right word is .. but I haven't been wanting to go to church here at all lately. Nothing against our church, it's just been really hard. All I feel like Kurt and I do (the entire Mass) is attempt to keep Landen and Amelia quiet. With trips to the bathroom because Landen is going on the potty now and usually a trip to the back because Amelia thinks she's going to die without nursing. It's very exhausting. I know this is terrible to even admit, but I'd like to have an excuse to skip out.. which is not what I want. So, it was really nice to go somewhere different, just to change it up a bit. Hopefully this overwhelming, exhausted feeling will subside soon. =)
Oooh.. I'm totally excited because I ordered a Mei Tai wrap last night. So cute, from a WAHM eBay store - Cuddling Baby. They had so many different fabrics to choose from it was hard - but awhile back I saw this quilt looking Mei Tai and I fell in love with it - sure enough she had one just like it. I ordered it for... $28. Shipping, tax, everything. I thought it was a pretty good deal. So good, if I want another one for style purposes I could always order another. Yay! I think the the price was anywhere from $15.99-$21.99 with a few a little higher (depending on the type of fabric you want) and then she does padded straps and different things for more. I hope it works really great!!!

Book Tagging
I've been tagged by Jenn from My Musings for a kind of book sentence thing. So I thought I would play along.
Here are the rules first-- so you don't think I'm nuts by just posting some sentences from a book:

My FAMILIA Book was the closest.
Although humans are made in God's image and likeness, God -- so much greater than we are-- is totally different, beyond us. Attributing masculine and feminine qualities to God is a kind of anthropomorphism and analogy.
There are two moments of God's Revelation:
We have his speaking in the Old Testament. There he tells us that man and woman are made in his image and likeness. One of the ways in which men and woman are like to God, is the ability to love truly and therefore to give life to another. So it is that a man reflects in his own physical being more prefectly that God is the first origin and transcendent authority, God's protective love. Some Old Testament passages compare Gods love for us humans in masculine images of bridegroom and father (Hos 11:1-4; Jer 3:4-19). On the other hand, the woman has the gift to be able to express in a more direct manner God's tenderness, his gentleness, love and compassion. Indeed, God's love is sometimes compared to that of a mother's love (Is 49:14-14: 66:13; Ps 131:2-3). In these moments Sacred Scripture reveals to us the gentleness and tenderness of God's love for his people. We can see both the male and fmale attributes given to God in the many Scriptural references where God describes his love as being like that of a husband, a father, a sheperd, and in other places he describes his love as having the characteristics of a woman's love for her husband, her children.

Northern Illinois
Many have heard of the recent shooting at Northern Illinois University. Yesterday I just happened to turn the television on to check weather and saw people being taken in ambulances by stretcher.
My husband went to school there, along with this brother and friends of ours. I can't believe it.. it's so sad. Then come to find out the shooter was in the same Graduate social work program as one of my other sisters at a different college. How very scary... this could have happened in my sisters class she taught.. even though at a different college.
Here is a read about it.. several are killed and many injured. Please say some extra prayers for this tragedy. So many people could use our prayers right now during all of this.

Happy Valentine's Day
I hope everyone is having a loving day today - celebrating this Valentine's Day!
We don't get into Valentine's day a whole lot around here. No big expensive gifts or anything like that. As much as I like getting gifts and things, I haven't ever been convinced that Valentine's Day is all that necessary for a bunch of extra things. It's fun though! Anyway... I of course got some gorgeous flowers that I am truly enjoying on my table, and we're planning on going out for dinner tonight as a family. We sent out a few little Valentine's and got some cute things from friends. Oh and we got the kiddo's a couple of DVD's! The Little Mermaid and The Incredibles.
I am very thankful today for my wonderful husband and my beautiful children. I thank God for them everyday. I'm also thankful for the rest of my family and friends. Love you all and I hope this day blesses you, however you may celebrate this Valentine's Day. =)

Copy Cat
Amelia has decided that copying her big brother is not only a lot of fun, but will worry her mother into thinking she has some neurological problem as well.
The last week or so Amelia has been shaking her head back and forth like she's telling us - no! I was really starting to worry about her, until... we were sitting in bed and Landen starts shaking his head back and forth, of course with his tongue sticking out and slobber going everywhere. Sure enough, as soon as he stopped Amelia decides to do the same thing. She's such a little copy cat!
I'm not sure what's so fun about laundry baskets, big brothers underwear (yes.. he's wearing underwear all the time now.. .except for bed time) and a nemo fish, but Amelia is ... havinggg the time of her lifffeee!

What to blog about
Today is absolutely freezing. The high is... 2 degrees and the windchill is like -25. I know I keep talking about winter, but I am seriously ready for spring. I just can't handle this anymore.
Friday Landen decided to be a flying maniac. He jumped off a chair, hit a desk and bit a whopping hole in his tongue. I had one of those worst mommy's in the world moments. I saw he had a bloody mouth, so we got a paper towel and I continued helping pick up the toys that he had thrown all over our friends house. He came crying to me a couple minutes later and showed me his tongue *faint* a hole the size of the end of a pen. I kind of went into shock mode, having no idea what I was supposed to do. After a few phone calls and a ride back to our house, we find out you don't get stitches in your tongue. He had some Tylenol and by the next morning it had pretty much sealed itself back shut. I felt so bad for the little guy - I suppose this is just the beginning of having a boy.. I'm awaiting the trip to the hospital for stitches... luckily it hasn't happened yet.
Lets talk Lent (ha ha.. too much Soup from E! I know, not a good show to watch). I haven't broken my lent yet. I've been able to get my decade of the rosary in, even if it's in the shower and even though I have been very tempted with the candy and sweets I haven't snuck even a bite. I have almost forgotten and taken something (like today and the desert pizza) but not yet. =)
On a blogging note - is anyone else having problems with the Spell Checker?? As I posted in my - About Me at the top, I am not a good speller and since this dumb thing isn't working.. You'll just have to deal with spelling errors.
I think I need a picture in this post. Here's one of Landen's first snowman. He's a headless snowman now because it rained and snowed again and we haven't had a chance to make him a new head. =) Also.. he's not supposed to be smoking.. it's supposed to be a corn cob pipe, but I was informed that it looks more like a cigarette. Sorry!

We're in a Winter Warning
According to my official reading - measurement from my sidewalk with my green ruler (hee hee) we have accumulated approximately 5 inches of snow already!
Will we see 10 plus inches... and if we do... why couldn't this come in the night when I wished upon a star for 18 inches (that I would have to shovel according to Kurt) so he didn't have to go to work.
Landen and I are keeping the ruler handy.. because we're dorks and have nothing else to do.. to keep up with the amount of snow we get throughout the day. Ha ha! The life of a stay at home mom that has nothing better to do but stay in her pajamas, not get her children dressed because we're having a snow storm.
And yes.. we were going somewhere today... to see our friends that are home from Missouri, so we are missing out on something fun because of winter. I'm pretty sure we should move to South Carolina.. or maybe I'll win my Dream home (not really my dream home) but that's what the sweepstakes says for house in the keyes. Check it out!

The Lenten Season
It's Ash Wednesday today and Lent has officially started! I've been looking forward to this lent and really hoping to strengthen my prayer life and embrace lent instead of feeling irritated that I have to fast and abstain when I don't want too. And how come it seems like whenever you can't have meat, is when your craving it? Or when you can't eat as much.. your so hungry. Maybe I'm nuts! But anyway, I want to remember what Jesus did for us, and have a spiritual cleansing for myself before Easter this year.
I (as well as my family) will be doing the regular Lenten Fast and Abstinence according to the Catholic Church. For the official rules ... which I always seem to forget, every year... I have found them on the Internet, so when I throw out my paper I can find them again in a hurry.
This year I wanted to give something up as I usually do, but I also wanted to do something as well. I always run it through my head... well I could do this, but that's not really doing anything for anyone, being charitable... or that's just too hard for me to really do. So, I got honest with myself this year - I suppose it's about time. I wanted to be realistic though too - or I would set myself up to fail and feel really guilty and un willing to continue.
So... I'm giving up sweets this year. I know this is something a lot of people do, but I'm really going to do it. Not ... well I'm giving up sweets, but not ice cream... definitely not Moo-late's.. and I can have whatever I want on Sunday's because that doesn't count. No, I'm going cold turkey.. nothing, nada.. no, no, no.
As for giving... I'm going to do a decade of the Rosary everyday. I've been really trying to do this anyway for the past month or so, but it seems to get put on the back burner and it doesn't always get done. I'm going to offer my decade for friends, family, prayer intentions, etc. Then once a week Kurt and I are going to do a full Rosary together. This was not my idea, it was Kurt's and let me tell you... he knows how to score points (Ha ha ha! Just kidding.) because when he said that he wanted to do that, I fell in love with him all over again. I have a great hubby! I think this is going to be great - help Kurt and I grow together spiritually. I have been wanting to do something like this for a long time, but we never do it. I'm really looking forward to this.
I'm hoping to make it to Mass this evening.. but with this winter storm we're having.. I have a feeling that probably won't happen.. we're supposed to get ten inches or more of snow and the way it's been coming down this morning, that shouldn't be a problem. Everything is canceled. I really want to make it to the Stations of the Cross at least once, and if we have more than the once a month Adoration (which we usually make it too) I'm going to try to make it there.

The Pill...
I recently read this small article from the American Life League about the Birth Control Pill.
I personally believe that a lot of people who use the pill don't really know what it's all about. Even if my beliefs were different and I did think birth control (other than NFP) was okay, I wouldn't be able to take it. Don't be blind to the facts.
I encourage everyone who stops by my blog, no matter what you believe to read this article. It's not long, but it has some good information.

Super Bowl
We watched the Super Bowl yesterday. I never get into football much, but I like watching some of the play offs and the Super Bowl. I went for the Giants and Kurt the Patriots, even though I'm pretty sure deep down Kurt wanted the Giants to win (right hun?). So I'm glad the Giants won! My favorite part though is the commercials, even though I remember when I was younger the commercials being a lot better. Remember the Budweiser commercials with the frogs? Those were classic! But.. if you want to see my favorite commercial from the night... go to Sharon's blog, because her fav was my favorite and I'm to lazy to put the youTube clip on my blog.
It takes the daddy
An update with the potty training.
We've been having a bit of an issue with Landen not wanting to poop in the potty since he started potty training. He was doing great and then he decided there was no way. Well Kurt got him up on the big potty, talked to him and... ta da.. Landen is going. I guess I'll leave the poop up to Kurt. Ha ha ha! So, potty training is going great - still a few accidents at night, but other than that I suppose we can say Landen is just about potty trained.
