Running On Fumes

What's wrong with us? Why do we get sick constantly? Poor Landen came down with something on his poor little birthday. Throwing up and fever, today there hasn't been any puking, but the fever and chills are there. Not to mention he's very clingy and Amelia is getting on his nerves. I really hope it passes tomorrow and the rest of us don't get this. It was just so sad, he couldn't even get excited about his presents and today he finally was able to get a little strength to blow some candles out, but not much. I hope tomorrow is better!

My computer is slowly shutting down I think. Did I tell you it crashed a week ago or something? Kurt got it running again, but it's been very finicky and getting on my nerves. Add it to the check list of things going bad around here - the freezer went out (we think) and all the meat in the basement ruined along with some ice cream. That was not a fun mess to clean up - thanks sweetie! The dishwasher went out and I can't get it fixed (still working on that one) and Kurt said something about the water softener not working correctly. HELP, our house is going in the hole. Yikes! What to do, what to do.

I was going to write more, but Amelia finally fell asleep after rocking and then finally deciding to just sit with her while on the computer. I'm running on few fumes from pulling an all nighter last night.

The Porch Project

What a long project to do - I didn't realize how much work it was going to be - thankfully we had helpers and that always makes the work load a bit better. Just so you know - there was screaming, there was yelling, crying, times I wanted to throw the paint brush, or paint on someone, it covered my body, my children had it all over and yes it's still in my hair - I'm working at getting it out! It was fun and my porch swing is yet to be finished - it's getting there. I'm now being called on stage for winning an award for this amazing job. I first have to hank the painters for their work in this; Kurt, Landen, Mikyla, & Beck - the construction taker downer, my husband - the designers or this, Jake, Sara and Kurt - all this wouldn't have been possible without you ... oh no, I hear the music calling me off the stage... one more thank you to myself - the hardest worker of all. LOL!!!! Enjoy the pictures! Before 1- brown and nasty. I didn't realize how ugly it was. The ceiling, spindles, floor, lattice, everything was the same color. Before 2 - Sorry, I forgot to take pictures until everything was taken down and ready for painting.

After 1 - Yes we hand painted all those spindles! The ceiling is white, the spindles and lattice, the floor chocolate brown, and the rest green.

After 2 - The green was supposed to be darker, but that's the color came once it got finished. It's still pretty! I think it looks so much better!

After 3 - My porch swing will go up right behind the first hanging basket (look at after 2)- it's always been there since we moved. I love it - I didn't realize how often I sat on it. All the white lattice had to be hand painted with a brush - it took forever because it's not flat. Yikes!

Of course the kids got in on the action. Amelia was most enthusiastic about climbing the ladder. Landen is one heck of a painter - he really did help with all those spindles. Glad to be done. Wanna come over for a cup of coffee with me now? =) Visitors Welcome!

The Shoplifter!

Well the kids and I had to run some errands this morning - one of the stops was, of course Walmart. Why do I feel like I live there? Maybe because I'm there like everyday - okay an exaggeration, but it's far to often then I'd like. So - we're getting our necessary things and things that we really don't need but think we have to have - impulse shoppers for sure! Ha ha ha! We're getting checked out, the nice check out lady talks to Landen who is sitting up front in the cart - buckled in and all. She even gives him a sticker, we take our bag and head out the door. Get all the way to the car and what do we have - a car that someone just had to carry around the store. How did the check out lady not see that? I of course was too busy to check my smugglers hands before leaving the store - isn't that her job? No, she's too busy giving stickers!!! Anyway, so we get to the car and I realize we're shoplifters and head back in. Thinking I'm doing the 'right' thing - well when I get in there they actually made me feel like a shoplifter. I wanted to grab the car and run - all I can think of is that part in Fun with Dick and Jane (I haven't even seen the entire movie) where they hold up some store and then drive like crazy when no one is even after them. Okay, so I'm laughing - whatever! Anyway, I wanted to race out of there and actually steal the stupid car - why can't they just be nice and "oh it happens, thanks for bringing it back." Oh well - add shoplifter to my long list of names! Oh and I think since I have to blame someone for this happening I will blame my sister because just last week we were talking about taking things and not even knowing. Way to go Beck!

I'm pretty sure I'm out of the loop here - what's the deal with all the mohawks? Am I the only one noticing that everywhere I go there are grade school boys sportin' the mohawk? What started this latest fad? What celebrity is sporting this look - or did everyone all of a sudden just decide they wanted to wear a mohawk? I'm not poking fun, I'm not much into the mohawk myself, or the blue streaks, whatever - just not my thing! Would someone like to answer that question though? What's the deal and where have I been - I guess in my own 'bubble' where I belong!

Some major neglection in bloggy land on my part. I did manage to get a review and giveaway up after several hours the other day - Burger King gift certificates anyone?

The porch is almost done, only the floor and a few more touch up areas. Crossing my fingers it doesn't rain tomorrow afternoon so we can finish.

My sister got a job here so she's been apartment shopping. I'm excited, she's moving really close to us, in a beautiful neighborhood. It will be great to have family close by.

Amelia is obviously cutting some hard core teeth. She tried to take a bite of cookie yesterday and screamed at the top of her lungs. I gave her the dreaded pacifier in the car two days ago just to calm her while heading home - her little face is all broke out now. She has such sensitive skin. I'm saying goodbye to the pacifiers for good - I know I keep saying this. None in the car either. Gone, in the garbage is where they belong. I knew there was a reason I hated pacifiers.

I figured out how to make three columns on my review blog and made a button that will make due for now. Thanks to my friend Teri and her amazing html abilities she figured out how to make me a scroll box for html under my new button. I was blown away with excitement and have been making everyone I come in contact check it out - that means you people.

We have a family reunion today - it's supposed to be hot and I really hope the mosquito's aren't out. Oh, how I hate mosquito's - actually, I despise them.

I'm up entirely too early because Landen must have had a bad dream and of course his screaming woke the baby girl up. He kept saying he wanted his pool, in the house, and warm. I couldn't get through to him. Finally after a long, drawn out Three Little Bears story he's back to sleep but my wild one is not. At least she's nursing contently while I attempt to get back organized in the land of the blogs.

We went to a neighboring town to see the free movie in the park with popcorn. It was so cool - you bring your chairs, blankets, whatever and they play a movie on the wall of a big building. Alvin and the Chipmunks was playing - unfortunately after about 45 minutes it rained and we had to leave. It was fun though!

Alrighty, I suppose if I'm up I should start working on the food I have to take today. Ugh! Have a great weekend - hopefully pictures of the porch coming Monday.

No Time For Blogging!

Yes, I actually have no time to blog right now. We're painting our wrap around porch and let me tell you there are a lot of time consuming little pieces and since it's going to be three different colors it's even more work. This is our fourth complete day of painting and I'm getting quite sick of it. Thankfully I have a great family who has been helping out with my kiddo's and painting. I'll be back soon!!

Back To School

My sweet and wonderful husband is heading back to school to get his Masters in Engineering this fall. He's been accepted, is enrolled and just about as ready as you can get to head back to college! I'm extremely excited for him and am glad to start this next chapter in our lives. We knew that eventually he would be going back to school and this is the perfect time before their are more kiddo's around and Landen and Amelia are still young. It's a two year program and sounds like he won't be gone a whole lot this semester. Thankfully! He has to go into this slow - as he has a wife that can't handle him being gone too much. =)

He may not realize how happy and proud of him I am. He works very hard for his family and this is just another step in helping better his career and family! Don't know what I'd do without you sweetie. You know I'm excited - even though I complain. Congratulations!

As for blogging - I'll try not to complain too much when he's gone, or studying, or taking up my computer time.

I started carrying one of those "big" stylish bags! Well today after running to the store real quick I decided after several minutes of digging for my keys that when I got home I was going to clean it out. I decided to do a little running check list as I pulled things out ~

I dare you to share, what's in your purse? LOL!!! I may like those little clutches but for this mom - I think I'll stick with the big bag!

My baby girls 1st birthday was Saturday. I suppose I can't call her a baby anymore - on her birthday she decided to attempt to do a little walking and standing on her own. It won't be long now! I can't believe this year went by so fast - it seems like she was just born and now she's got her own little attitude, chases after her brother, is into everything and is becoming a toddler. I love my little sweetie!!!

The birthday party was lots of fun! Lots of presents, family, yummy food and cake! She was worn out and cranky by the end of the day - as you'll see from the slide show. Jen asked: What were you like in high school? (What did you do/not do for fun, what kind of people did you hang out with, were you loud, shy, etc?)

This is actually a hard one for me to answer. I'd say I was shy unless you got to know me then I was probably loud, obnoxious and irritating. Ha ha! I hung around nice people - didn't do the whole party thing, we were all good kids. I wasn't wild that's for sure, if anything I was immature. Sorry, not a very good answer. =(

Heather asked: Did you find it just the teensiest bit funny, the thing that Jesse Jackson said about Barack Obama the other night?

What did Obama ask Jesse Jackson the other night? LoL! I have no idea... I hardly ever watch the news.

Heathers real question: What brought you to the Lord, and to your Catholic faith?

I was born and raised Catholic and leaving the faith has never come to mind. I really didn't do a lot with my religion (if that's what you want to say) until I started dating Kurt who was casual Methodist at the time. When we started to get more serious we decided to take RCIA (the prep class to become Catholic) together so I could learn more about my faith and he could see what I believed. While going through that I learned so much and Kurt decided to become Catholic. However, once class was finished I basically went back to going to church and that's about it (we did practice our faith though, unlike a lot of just 'church' goers). Then we got pregnant with Landen and I started taking things a little more serious, reading, studying, praying, etc. Then after I had our miscarriage between Landen and Amelia that's what really helped me turn to God more in my everyday life. I joined our FAMILIA group at church which has really brought me closer to God, I joined a stay at home Catholic mom yahoo group, started really having a prayer life. Since then I have gotten deeper and deeper in my faith. I also think my mom too has a lot to do with it, who is a very faithful woman and she is a wonderful example for her children when it comes to faith and our religion.

Heather also asked: Do you like knitting?

Well back in the day when I was in 4-H I took a class to learn to knit, but I never made anything and I don't have the slightest clue how to knit now. It does intrigue me though because so many people make some really cool things. Maybe I should learn? =)

Kalle asked: I'm wondering if blogging is turning out to be all you thought it would be. If it is, what's something about it you didn't expect and if it isn't, then what's different than what you expected.

Blogging is actually a lot different then I thought it would be. I didn't expect to meet so many great people! I really didn't expect to get so 'into' it - I actually thought I'd start blogging just for my family and close friends. Anyway, I love to blog, I love to work on my contest/review blog, I love commenting (when I can) to others and pretty much everything about it. I didn't think so many people would actually be reading my blog and that it would cause me to have paranoia that I give out to much information on my family.

Mandy asked: If you could go anywhere, where would you go?

I honestly can't think of some wonderful place I really want to go. Somewhere warm and sunny with a beach would be satisfying!

Mandy asked: If you were to come face to face with God, what would you ask/tell him?

Wow! That's a deep question - I'd probably stand there in awe and not say a word. I don't know what I'd ask, say or do. Hmm!

Mandy asked: What do you find endearing (either habit or personality trait) about each of your children?

Right now I love how lovable Landen is. How he always says "i love you, i love you more." He has a huge heart! Amelia is so young and as annoying as it is - the girl sticks her ground about things. If she has her mind made up one way or another, that's the way it's going to be. No persuading her other wise. It makes it a little hard to handle her at times! Oh and how she blows us kisses all the time. =)

No Title This Time - I'm Brain Dead

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend. It's the baby girls 1st birthday tomorrow and we're having a family party Sunday - so lots of fun going on and pictures to show on Monday. Tale As Old As Time! Question Two.

Maybe you all do think this is exciting because I got a few more questions after yesterdays - or maybe I'm just so interesting you want to know more. Ha ha ha! Whatever. To catch up post one, post two! *Title Courtesy Of My Hubby*

Jen's first questions: How did you meet and fall in love with Kurt?

Oh it started a long, long time ago. Okay, so maybe not that long ago - but it sounded good.
I actually worked with Kurt for two and a half years, sneaking glances in his way as he worked the paint counter ever so lovely like. LoL! Whatever - in his dreams!! Really though, we worked at Wal-mart together for those years but I was always dating someone and according to my then boyfriend Kurt just wasn't "boyfriend material" when I asked him once why he wasn't dating anyone yet. I didn't really know him all that well... I had a pre-conceived idea of who and what he was like. Anyway, we actually were kind of schemed together from a mutual friend (Josh-bless his soul). I had just recently broken up with my then boyfriend and got talked into going to a hockey game with Josh and his girlfriend but didn't really want to drive the entire way there - so while talking to Josh on yahoo messenger his girlfriend was on the phone with Kurt telling me he was going on a date with his dream girl (me.. hee,hee) to the hockey game, but Josh was telling me I could just get a ride with Kurt and it'd be no big deal because I somewhat knew him. For some reason I said yes - which is totally out of my character. I really, honestly did not think this was a date - it was NOT a date. You can ask my entire family - I was complaining about this and that because I thought he was "not boyfriend material" and like most of the guys I knew that he hung out with.. I was totally just getting a ride with him and going with another couple.. right, stupid me! I got hit hard with the reality that he wasn't like the guys I thought he was like and once I actually got to know him better from the long truck ride to and from the game and a long hockey game (which by the way I took gloves to because I had never been to one and thought I'd freeze - dork) realized he wasn't that bad. Little did I know that my sisters then boyfriend said - "yep, she's going to marry that guy".. that night, (the night I said I was only getting a ride from this guy), I had no interested what so ever. I kind of had my eye on someone else (gross now I think about that one. *puking*) So, after that he went back to school and we talked a lot on messenger (as I worked until late at the hospital) and he started coming back on weekends to see sweet lil' ol' me. I was a ball full of fun and actually told him at one point I didn't want to date him, but then called him back the next day to see if he wanted to go to the Nutcracker (whooooaa funnnn) with my sister, her then boyfriend and me. I really threw him for a loop - but he dealt with me, after swooning over my good looks and charming attitude for years while we worked together. Hee,hee! I'm just so irresistible! Honestly, he was pretty irresistable - I remember at one point (who knows what I was saying) my dad told me - I basically needed to get my act together if I liked him and quit being foolish. Maybe it took that to get me to realize I really liked him a lot. I had this idea I didn't want a boyfriend, just wanted to do my thing and focus on school. I'm glad I didn't do that! So, the rest is history - we dated for two years, got engaged, and got married eight months later - September 4, 2004! I love him to pieces! That's my story and I'm sticking too it! Hopefully I didn't leave anything out - I've been up and down quite a bit during this. Maybe I should get Kurt to write his version? His version is always so dreamy (to me anyway!)

Apparently not everyone thought my little question thing was all that fun - but for the people that did ask a question - here goes!

Sharon asked: What is something you miss about your life BEFORE you had kids? I know you love your kids and being a mom, but isn't there *something* you miss?

I would say the freedom from children responsibility really. If I want to stay up late, jump up at the last minute and go somewhere, not having my wheels in constant motion worrying/thinking about my kiddos. Really, doing whatever I want, whenever I want without having to worry about diapers, someone crying, it's too late, someone missed a nap, etc. At times I really do miss that - especially when I'm around my sisters who don't have kids and just go and do what they want. I get a bit jealous I will admit! However, even though I miss that at times.. it's only at times and in certain circumstances. I never miss it enough to want to go back to that!

You the readers get to ask me a question. Quite a few people that read my blog, only know me from my blog, so maybe this is more of a -"get to know me better." Really though, I'm pretty open about everything and don't mind sharing my thoughts or life with people.

What question would you like to ask this girl?

Maybe nothing at all! I just thought it was kind of fun. If I have anyone ask me anything, I'll write it up in a post when I get a chance for everyone to read. Now I need to really finish working on my little idea of having a La Leche League evening cafe get together. Any excuse for a moo-late sort of thing sounds yummy to me!

Fun Times and Congrats

Hope everyone had a great fourth of July weekend. We had so much fun here - but before I go on about all of that. We had some pretty exciting news on the 3rd that I must share!!

*Congratulations to my sister Sara and her now fiance Jake! Jake popped the big question that night - not to much of our surprise because he's been around forever, but that doesn't make it any less special or exciting. I'm so happy for them - I love them both and I know they are going to be so happy together. They are a wonderful example for so many people and even though I've pretty much considered Jake part of the family for awhile now, we can really say he is in the family. Congrats again - I love you guys!

We did the run around for the Holiday! Spent the entire day on the fourth at my parents and Jake's pool. It was lots of fun.. Landen jumped off the diving board, did sparkles and I got some funny pictures of us all. Saturday we got up late because of the late night Friday and went to a parade with my family and then to Kurt's family for dinner. Sunday we went to church, which was nice, headed to the parade with Teri and her family. Then came home, took a nap and headed to the fireworks and met up with Teri and the family again. It really was a great holiday.

I made this slide show - I had to add some funny pictures of people because I was either told too, or they need to be seen. LoL! All out of fun - as you can see just by the beginning it's made just to have fun. We're goofy here in Landen's words. Enjoy!

We're living in a hole?

I would like to say - I'm a pretty good homemaker.. that I keep the floors clean, the dishes washed, the clothes ironed and fresh. Oh yes, I like to think that, I do... I keep it in my head because if I don't I'd have to get off of here and go clean something because blogging doesn't come first, no, no.. cleaning should. Well today I got hit with reality... Amelia comes crawling into my and seriously the top of her little feet and knees were black... okay, not black, but DIRTY gross. ( I tried to take a picture just to prove how bad, but she was being wiggly and truthfully I really didn't want you to see.. hee,hee) I seriously laughed out loud - Ha ha ha, jokes on me. I'm not such a good home maker after all. Thank goodness for those Eco-Friendly cleaners I just got in the mail (a giveaway coming soon) to help me with this dirty place. I did start cleaning.. not because it needed it.. oh no, because I LOVE to clean! Ha ha ha. Okay, so really we don't live in a dirt infested, house, but it does get dirty and it gets dirty way to fast. It probably doesn't help with the windows being open. Cleaning is basically like laundry - it's the chore that never goes away. Arghh - Amelia learn to walk already so we don't have proof of how dirty the floors really are. I need a cleaning lady - bbbeeecccaaaa!

Stuck On Me

It's funny how when you think you have absolutely nothing to blog about things present themselves to you.

It's time for the pack-n-play to head to the basement. Amelia has decided that it's much better to stay attached to her mommy while sleeping and with that there is no need for a pack-n-play to sleep in. It's not a bad thing - I guess those dishes will just have to stay in the sink a bit longer as she gets her rest and I get my blogging in.

I'm pretty sure if you took a blood sample on Landen it would show peanut butter and jelly sandwich running through his veins. That's all he wants and likes to eat lately. Do kids go through weird stages where they don't like to eat anything but one thing? If I ate half as many pb&j's as that kid I'd puke just at the site or smell of it. At least he's growing!

My dishwasher is still not fixed - I'm scared to even dive into taking it apart, fear of the unknown, or worse - that it really is non fixable and we'll have to spend the money to buy a new one. Yes, I'd have to buy a new one. I didn't realize how horrible dishes were until my dishwasher quit working. There is nothing fun about washing dishes - nothing I say, nothing.

I got my new wet bag for the cloth diapers in the mail. I love it, love it, love it. The fabric is absolutely gorgeous, it keeps the smell out, it zips, it hangs, it's amazing. I purchased it from Sewing Mom Just Accessories Etc. and look at how cute it is... Don't you want one?

I'm excited, tonight we're going to Beauty and The Beast at the old fashioned theatre. It's only $1 to get in and this will be our first movie since I was pregnant with Landen. It's been a loonngg time. I'm hoping Landen will love it - I'm going to get some pictures and hopefully Amelia is good.

That's it for now. My head has run dry of those thoughts that presented themselves to me awhile ago. If and when the rest should return I'll be back. *Yes Arnold Schwarzenegger came to my mind* *Oh, and I did look up the spelling!*
