One more thing before I get off of here and finish that laundry... that's one chore that never goes away. =/ I was reading in my Familia today, and boy, whenever I'm struggling with something and doing a lot of praying about it, God knows how to find another way to open up my eyes about the situation. That's exactly what my Familia homework did this week! Another reason I'm so glad I'm in this at our church.
One of the things is about media, letting your children watch television. Something I posted about awhile back. I struggle with this, it's so easy for me to just let Landen watch television so I can get things done, or do things I want to do. I've gotten pretty good about monitoring everything, but I know I'm still lacking in that area of having less of it. Anyway, I have a question for you mom's that read this. What do you do with your children all day? If they're not watching television, are you constantly playing? I'll be totally honest here, I can't play all day long. It drives me INSANE! I can for awhile, read a book, in-cooperate their (Landen really) play with what I'm doing, but after awhile I just can't do it. I need some suggestions here. =) I read about these mom's who stay at home, and they don't have television, but what do you do? Maybe it gets better once I have two playing active ones, they can play together. Right now it's just Landen and I because Amelia just goes with the flow with whatever we're doing. I know I've talked to some of you about this before, but I'm open for more suggestions, if anyone has any.
Thanks and I'm off to the laundry! Ugh!

It is actually very GOOD for kids to have some self-directed play time so it's good if you aren't playing with him ALL the time!
As for what we do..Liesie won't watch TV even if I let her except her Sesame Street DVDs. She mainly just follows me around all day and "helps" with chores. That is what we've always done..before she could get around I wore her everywhere with me so we're used to it. It can be a pain sometimes since her helping usually makes my job harder but I feel like she is learning everyday life skills so I just deal with it. If you want some ideas look into Montessori.
(I still haven't started my Familia homework EEK!)
Hmmm...I actually never let Tate watch TV, so when it happens to be on for the news or something he is totally interested (haha). But this is what I think...once you start not letting them watch TV so much, they WILL eventually find something else to do...Tate is only (almost) 15 months and he entertains himself in the living room often when I am not playing with him. He plays with his legos or blocks or whatever else he can find. So, I actually think that Landon would eventually learn how to entertain himself in other ways (like building with lego or whatever he might like to do). :)
I know we've talked about this before and since I'm thinking with the same brain as you, living the same life and all--hee hee--I'll just say this: Christmas is coming so fast and our little wild boys will have new things to play with for awhile--More activities for them and less boredom for everyone :o) I think that's a big part of it--when you're in the same place doing the same things, it's bound to get repetitive after awhile. I'm going to try to slow down the tv time even more after the holidays :o)
I hear ya. You wrote it drives you INSANE-yup. I do enjoy playing w/ Aidan, and i try to play with him a decent bit each day. We do a lot of puzzles, workbooks, read stories, play doh, etc. BUT, I can't play w/ him all day long. Some days he's fine w/ that, but others, he will follow me around and pester me nonstop! I go insane! Then I let guilt set in. :(
Often I wake up & think "what the heck am I going to do w/ them ALL DAY?!".
It's nice to know I'm not the only one in these shoes. lol
Thanks for the suggestions. Everyone really has given me something to think about and try!
Sharon, I Know about letting the guilt set in and waking up - thinking "oh my gosh what are we going to do, how many hours until Kurt gets home". I love them and I love staying homme, I just have bad days too.
