It seriously just boggles my mind as to why people don't appreciate a stay at home mom. A recent conversation of mine was about me not working, and I politely say - "I stay home with my kids" - "all day?" - the comment returns - "yah." - "OoooOhhh.. you need to get out then." Whatever! Of course I need a little down time for myself, but seriously, are kids really that bad? Not mine - or most kids I've met.
So anyway.. I truly think a mom should stay home with their children, if you aren't going to raise them, well then don't have them. Of course there are certain cases, but for the most part I think a mom's job is to be a mom fully and completely. God first, Husband second, Children third and nothing should come before those.

And that is why I am leaving the public school system. It's time!!
That is funny you should post this now....we just talked about the husband before kids thing at Familia last week and EVERYONE agreed that it is very hard to not put your children before your husband since they have so many more immediate needs. There is a quote I heard years ago that I love for this: The best gift you can give your children is a healthy marriage!!!
I agree, though it isn't always easy :)
Teri-
Too bad I missed FAMILIA I would have liked to hear that one. It is hard to always put your hubby first, but I think if he loves you how he should and his children he'll realize that a child's needs sometimes need to come first. I think working on not being selfish is the key.
Stacey-
It isn't always easy!
Mandy-
Listen to your heart- it probably is time. =)
It's so true...and not always possible...at least not for lots of single mommies out there..BUT I'm so grateful to God for allowing me to stay home with my kiddoes..I would much rather it be ME raising them, not daycares, etc.....having said that (again) it isn't always possible for everyone, but I definitely would encourage it if it IS possible!!
Amen, sista!
(even though there are days they drive me insane and I say "daycare!")
I am a stay-at-home mom (for now) and I wouldn't have it any other way. With that said though, a woman ,Sharon & I both know (like family) is a very devout Catholic, wife & Mother to 2 wonderful kids. Her family has always come first yet she has always worked part time as a nurse.
Sue,
Thanks for your comment.. There are always reasons why someone may need to work as a mother, but I think you truly need to pray about it and deep down figure out why are you really working? Is it necessary.. a lot of times, I believe mothers are working for the wrong reasons. =)
