Around the Blogosphere

This is an incredibly great post from View From The Pews! Not intended for just Catholics - so please take a few minutes and read this.

Blogs Behaving Badly Vs. Virtuous Blogs

When we place Catholic symbols on our blogs we are then obligated to write what the Catholic Church Teaches which may differ from your own private thoughts and wishes. If you write a different doctrine other than the Teachings of the Catholic Church then what exactly is the reason you have emphasised your blog as Catholic? As Catholic bloggers we have a responsibility to proclaim the Church's Truth as it is and not what we 'think' it should be.We sometimes think because we are writing in 'cyber space' that somehow God is not listening or watching therefore we are not accountable for what we write or espouse. Yes, we are indeed responsible and yes indeed, God will hold us accountable for every word we type.

You may not be the one that's writing mean things on your blog, but sometimes we have commenter's that over step boundaries, say things that are absolutely unnecessary. It's okay to disagree, but to be mean and hurtful does not do anything. I have read far to many comments from people basically being bullies. It's all over the blogosphere. If you have nothing in common with that persons blog, why are you over and over again coming, visiting and commenting or e-mailing? I often think to myself if these people are only like that because they can hide behind the computer screen - what you see in words here, is what you get in real life from me. (okay, so.. I might be a little more annoying and shy to strangers.) So to these people that have nothing better to do then comment hurtful and mean things, not even intending on listening, but picking a fight (or at least that's what it seems like) please - move on your way! I haven't had much of this myself; as my blog is small and I have mostly the same visitors. =) Bring on the mean comments. Ha ha ha! Just kidding.

I wanted to add these quotes again, I know I have posted them before. It's hard when you are being persecuted for loving Christ and following him the best you can. Keep striving -

"If you aren't being persecuted in your life, then you aren't following closely enough to Christ."

"We might avoid evangelizing because we're afraid of ridicule. But without risking ridicule, we'll never fully imitate Christ. "*Taken from Guide to the Rosary. Meditation and imitation point.

Good post. Some tend to forget that just because we don't "know" people doesn't mean that words don't hurt.

Regarding Blogs Behaving Badly:
I come from a Southern Baptist background and grew up thinking it was important to critically examine what my church was teaching. I actually disagree with my church on at least 2 big issues, but since they aren't of salvific importance, I agree to disagree. And overall, I agree with them more than I agree with any other Christian faith tradition.

Do you agree that you have to publicly and totally agree with everything the Church teaches? If you did disagree with something, is there a proper forum for airing those disagreements? What would that forum be?
