Do you know what abortifacient means?

I honestly don't know how people can say they're pro-life and use the birth control pill. To me the pill brings nothing but harm on so many levels. I found this video on my friend Cassie's blog, read her thoughts here.

Please watch this video and learn what an abortifacient really is.

I do know what it means, but I can understand how others aren't aware of the pill acting as one.

The medical profession does too good of a job presenting the pill as though it can actually improve the body, as opposed to what it really does. Luckily WE know better, but had I not been raised to believe otherwise, I think it would have been easy to fall into the trap of thinking of the pill is safe, even good for you.

I kind of view it like I do vaccines-people don't think to question it. The majority of people are doing it, so it seems normal.

One day I'd love to see more FACTS coming out about the dangers of the pill.

Sharon!

I agree that it would be easy to fall into that trap if we didn't already know better. My siblings and I were raised (in my opinion) to question things before just doing what everyone else does; which makes it a lot better. Plus being grounded in our faith has helped as well.

I think the medical profession does too good of a job with lots of things making people believe it's the best way to go. Don't get me wrong I'm not "anti" medical - I wouldn't have gone to school for nursing if that was the case. I just think people need to better educate themselves on a lot of things. I'm sure people could point out things I do that I need to better educate myself on, but at least I'm not killing a human being.

I too would love to see more facts coming about on the dangers of the pill - for now those of us who do have information need to help spread the word and maybe reach people that don't know. =)

Great information, thanks a lot.

I know two women who have had serrious medical problems because of the pill. One nearly died. They were surprised to learn they had been taking their lives in their hands every morning. While the insert is there with the warnings no one has ever stressed that they are real a possible side effects. Very sad when sex on demand is given a higher priority than women's health.

I've been thinking about this for a couple of days because I don't want to sound mean but I do feel like I have to respond so I hope this comes across right....it's true ALOT of people don't know this and people who do know really do need to get this info out there but I want to say that comments along the lines of "at least I'm not killing a human being" do not help the guilt many women already feel when they find this info out. It's true we do need to educate ourselves better and not just blindly follow doctors' orders but sometimes we have to learn that for ourselves the hard way. Anyways my point is just that perhaps more compassionate wording should be used. The guilt is between the person and God and we have no right to twist the knife sort of speak in judging them ourselves. Again I'm not saying this to be mean in any way. I just don't feel like I'd be a very authentic friend if I pretended to ignore this.

I totally agree Teri - that was not very compassionate of me and a better choice of words would be much better (or not said at all). I absolutely do not mean to 'twist the knife' on anyone but to just try to get the information out there; as I know so many people that use BC and do not know what it's really about, or have been make to believe it doesn't do anything along the lines of aborting because of smooth talking. I do not entend to judge anyone either, that is not my place and I don't; or at least I really try not too. Thank you for being a true friend and pointing out my wrong here - I do appreciate it. You know me, I'd rather be told and I won't jump down your throat (most times ;-) anyway). Thanks, Andrea
