I'm addicted to the smell of cleaners

Yes, I'm addicted to the smell of household cleaners. Not in a bad way you silly - let me explain!

I did a review awhile ago for Letsgogreen.biz and I have all these nice Green cleaners - they work just great. The problem is I can't get over that "it's not clean if I don't smell this strong ammonia, bleach, whatever kind of smell." What's wrong with me? What do you Green people do? Maybe it's just a hang up and eventually I'll get use to it, but right now I'm wanting to go buy the old stuff because it just doesn't seem clean without that smell. I read awhile ago (somewhere) about people thinking that their babies aren't clean if they don't have that scent that lotions and soaps leave behind. I don't have that problem - I like those scents but with Amelia's sensitive skin (for another post) I've been doing good with the sensitive no smell stuff. Tell me, if you're going Green (like it seems so many people are) do you have the problem like I do or is there something wrong with me? =)

Ooh! I'm glad you posted this! I was watching one of Oprah's Green episodes and someone showing natural products said "Clean doesn't HAVE a smell! We have just been programmed to believe that it does!" I use the new Clorox Greenworks in my kitchen and I have gotten to where I LOVE the smell of it after I'm done! I use two Method cleaners that now I can't seem to live without: One is spray bathroom cleaner with a eucalyptus mint scent--and the other is called "Le Scrub" (hee hee!)--If you don't have Le Scrub, you need to go out and buy it PRONTO! that stuff cleans better than any product I have ever used for scrubbing sinks and bathtubs! I still keep some heavy duty stuff around--I swiffer my floor with antibacterial floor cleaner and I use Clorox wipes a lot for those big cleaning days where I just want to disinfect. That's what it boils down to for me: Natural for every day cleaning and the bad stuff for the big cleaning days and for really disgusting messes like...well, you can probably use your imagination there!

I'm the same way.
I actually don't mind the smell of bleach in small doses, and I like the smell of Windex. Weird, huh?

I have yet to try the Clorox Green line. Guess I need to get to it.

Yes, try them! They're pretty good and Clorox guarantees that they clean and disinfect as good as their original products--I have gotten to hwre the straight up bleach/lysol stuff gives me a headache now--You should hear me sneeze at the ole MIL's house--PEEEE-YOUUU! ;o)

The allergies in me are fighting with the germ-a-phobe in me--ha ha ha!

I've always cleaned a lot with just vinegar and water, not for "Green" as in the Earth's sake, but for "Green" as in $$$ and for my wallet's sake! So I'm used to not having much smell. That said, I do have a Method brand all-purpose cleaner that smells like mint, which I love, and when I really want to disinfect something, it doesn't seem like the job is done without a strong bleach or astringent smell!
