Glad to be staying home today
Once again I was summoned for jury duty, yes this is the fifth time in eight months. How is this possible, isn't it supposed to be a random drawing or something? I think someone has it out for me! Thank goodness there was no trial, or at least that's what it said on the recording that told me I didn't have to go. I'm so very thankful. I was feeling very panicky yesterday having the thought of leaving Amelia. She doesn't use a bottle, I don't even pump, she doesn't eat regular food and she isn't old enough for her mother to run off and leave her when I meet all her needs at this time. I don't know why some people (meaning the people at the court house) don't understand this. I'm a full time mom and don't have time to run off to some idiot's trial. If I had nothing else to do, fine I wouldn't really care, but not when I'm busy being a mom who's children depend on me to be here. Enough on that rant - I'm just sick of being called up for jury duty. I'm thankful to be spending the day with my little monkeys who are together playing on the floor in laundry. =)

We are kindred spirits...I have been called for jury duty SEVEN times since I became a registered voter. Two times were for Federal Grand Jury...the kind they wisk you away for. I did not have to serve on those. The most recent jury I sat on was in November. It was a long few days. If you are a nursing mother, you can get out of it--I know b/c I had to! When they summon you, you can write in for an excuse. If that doesn't work, you can go for the hour or two and then get excused when they ask you if you think there is a reason why you are unable to serve. I'm telling ya...been there, done that!!
I still have never been called for jury duty! I used to want to do it (not sure what's wrong with me), but now that I'm a mom, it's a HUGE inconvenience. I know exactly how you feel about leaving Amelia--That makes me want to cry. There is something VERRRRY wrong with a society that ignores a mother who is trying to take care of her children. Our criminals are more important. There are so many more people they could be harassing, anyways! Why can't people understand a mother's need to be with her children--and not leave them with baby-sitters all the time. it really irritates me! (Sorry for the rant!)--Let me know how it goes!
