Herbal Remedies

I just got home from the local herbal store with something new to try -- Baby Bee Shampoo Bar. It looks great, I think when Amelia wakes from her nap I'm going to have to try it out. I keep forgetting to pick some of the Burt's Bees wash at Target when we're there. I also came across this butt spray basically - I can't remember the exact name. You just spray it on your cloth wipe and it neutralizes the odor and cleanses the baby's bottom. I'm wondering how that might work - right now we're just going to use warm water.

I also had to pick up some Golden Salve with propolis for Amelia's skin abover her upper lip. As some of you might have been able to tell from some of the latest pictures I've posted, she has a nasty sore where her birth mark is. And no it's not a cold sore - we don't have cold sores in this family. Anyway... I'm not sure if when she was really chapped it got infected and then with that stupid pacifier it's rubbing her raw or not, but it looks absolutely awful. It gets scaly and then looks dark, then it'll crack and ooze. I'm really hoping that this clears it up. I had great luck with the Golden Salve when Landen was younger - he was so chunky he would get little sores in his leg creases and his mild eczema as well.

You can see Amelia's sore in this picture really well. It makes me feel so bad for her. That's one of her new shirts from yesterday's finds.. so cute!

I am the QUEEN of cold sores (most of my family gets them--BLAH!) and my first guess, if you hadn't already said it wasn't, was that she had a cold sore. Poor little thing!! I'll pray for her that whatever it is goes away fast!

By the way, I never knew she had a birthmark--Where is it??? :oD

PS) She still looks beautiful, even with a sore on her face--I wish I could say the same for myself! (How is nursing going with that? :o(.....)

I usually just use water on my wipes too.

Occasionally I put a drop of baby wash in an old huggies wipes container and fill it about half full of water. Then I fold my wipes in half and place them in the container. If you have a wipes warmer, this works well in there too. Bria just gets cold wipes though. Poor thing!
